Kindergarten graduation portraits are a cherished memory by many kindergarten parents. If you know me, you know I have two loves (besides my family) photography and my school babies! I have been a teacher as my full time job for five years now. In those five years I have taught 2 first grade classes and 3 kindergarten classes. Each class holds a special place in my heart, and this year’s kindergarten class was no exception.

This year has been one for the books. Between maternity leave and the corona virus shut down, this school year has been unlike any other. While this year was very difficult to graduating seniors, this year also affected our littlest graduates as well. Kindergartners have many ways to celebrate at the end of the year: the senior walk, graduation, cap and gown pictures, etc. However, because of COVID 19 our kindergartens were not able to celebrate. As a way to honor them, I partnered with another local photographer, Todd Kuhns from Studio 12 to capture these social distancing cap and gown portraits.
The Social Distancing Session
We set these session up like we do mini sessions with these sessions in ten minute increments back to back.

We took extra measures to make sure the kids and their parents were safe during their graduation portrait by sanitizing robes, spacing out appointments, and trying our hardest to stay 6 feet apart which let me say was not an easy task! Do you know how hard it was to see my babies and not give them a hug! It took some good self discipline, and even then I still failed a little bit!
Over all these sessions were very successful, and we loved getting to see the kids one more time before they move on to first grade. Check out this fun video link at the bottom of the blog on the making of these graduation portraits!
